Eric Laurent...
Born in 1959, Eric started learning
glass-working at the glass factory in Allex at the age of 15. He
became a glass-worker after 7 years of traditional glass-working
and he founded his own workshop in 1991 with his wife Agnès.
Blown glass...
Their creations made of
blown glass can be distinguished by the richness of the decorations,
real laces of coloured cords like the feathers of paradisiacal birds,
of colours drapings; the forms sometimes dare the precious delicacy
of collection bottles, and sometimes (on the contrary ) the imposing
massive shape of the vases.
Sculptures with
glass and stone...
Since 1998 Eric and Agnès
Laurent have offered fascinating sculptures combining glass and stone.
Sometimes opposite, their two natures add up : sensibility ans strength,
elegance and power for works where you find this duality, like two
opposite poles that grow richer by their difference. The combination
of stone and glass reflects this collaboration.
Opaqueness and transparence, impression of mass and appearance of lightness,
solidity and fragility for these two material, almost opposite, but
forever united.
A delicate polishing...
By a delicate polishing of these pebbles
of granite and stone, perfectly shaped, moulded by nature and time,
Eric reveals grains and tonalities, unsuspected under the lifeless
surface. They will serve as a base for imposing glass domes, filled
with haze and waves, clouds and veils, calling to mind a moving universe,
firmly secured on these stone bases, with textures and colours of
an infinite richness...
